Chess Club

The Einstein Chess Club offers middle school students who share an interest in playing, studying, and promoting the game of chess. This will be a social and competitive environment for both chess enthusiasts and chess novices. In the chess club, students will be able to play chess games and improve their skills. Chess club will enrich students' lives by promoting intellectual growth, social interaction, and positive competition. It will be both a valuable educational tool and a positive social outlet for middle school students.

Forensics

Forensics, more commonly known as “argumentative discourse,” speech, or public speaking at a fun and competitive level, is one of the most rewarding and beneficial educational activities available to students. No matter what field you enter, successful communication skills help people get jobs and help them advance in their careers.

Learning how to adapt to a variety of audiences is a skill that translates across any career. You will become confident in your speaking skills as well as understanding why you think and believe the way you do.

Jazz Band

Jazz Band at Einstein Middle School is a co-curricular activity that rehearses two times per week after school. Mrs. Juhl & the Einstein athletic coaches work together to ensure that students can participate in both jazz band and sports. Jazz band consists of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, drum set, auxiliary percussion/vibes). The group performs music in varying jazz styles including swing, Latin, and funk. Jazz Band requires extra practice time that goes above and beyond a student's normal music class assignments. We perform at concerts and school events as well as out in the community. Membership is by invitation as this activity requires a strong level of commitment and ability to successfully perform more challenging music. Please talk to Mrs. Juhl if you are interested in being considered for membership.

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books program is designed to promote a love of reading among students. It encourages students to read a variety of books and remember information about the plots, characters, and settings of the books.

Every question asked in a battle is answered by the team by stating the title and author of the book. It is a fun, academic-based competition that has been very successful in school districts in encouraging students to read.
