Conferences InformationEinstein Updates

The format for fall conferences will look very different due to the virtual life we are living in today. Compared to our in-person conferences, we have added a link for parents to sign up to meet with their target time teachers to check in and ask basic questions you may have about Canvas, Google Meets, synchronous vs. asynchronous days, etc. These 10 min. blocks of time scheduled from noon-3:00 on Wednesday, October 14 are a good starting point to check in with your child’s target time teacher.

If you feel the need to meet with your child’s core team teachers, click the team color link and schedule the appropriate 10 minute block of time.

If you feel the need to meet with your child’s encore teacher, click the name of the teacher and schedule the appropriate 5 minute block of time.

Due to the limited amount of time slots available it is important for the teacher and parent(s) to start and stop on time to honor the time for people next in line for conferences. These conferences are not mandatory and should be scheduled if you feel the need to meet with specific teachers.

Accessing the Google Meet with the teacher: We recommend that parents use their child’s device and account because nickname links are only accessible when the user is logged into a district Google account (this happens automatically with a student device). If you are unable to use your child’s device, please email the teacher you want to conference with for further information on how to connect via google meet.

Here is a breakdown of dates and times for conferences:

We appreciate your patience as we work through this new format.

From the Desk of Mr. Bernhardt

If your child has an unknown absence, we encourage you to discuss the absence with your child and reach out to that teacher for clarification. Your child’s teacher will have the ability to view evidence of participation in Canvas that occurred outside of the scheduled course time and update attendance the next day. If your child does not check in, does not complete work in CANVAS and the parent does not contact the school, the absence will be unexcused.
In addition, we have had some students that mark participation in IC but never go to the google meet.  Please talk to your child that by doing this they will be missing information on that days lesson and may get behind.  This will not reflect in the student’s attendance, but may reflect in the grade.

This is just to let you know you can now view in the parent portal your child’s mid-quarter grades for FACE, Tech Ed and Art.  You will also be able to view your child’s progress in their other classes.

A big thank for getting the i-Ready math and reading diagnostic finished.  As of now, we have only five percent of the school that has not taken the math diagnostic and nine percent that has not taken the reading diagnostic.  These results will help the teachers with the lessons they provide in the future.  Thank you again! If your child has not taken either of these tests, the window is open until October 21.

Boys Basketball
As we near the start of our winter sports season, we wanted to update you on our current situation.  While our community is operating under a Public Health Emergency COVID-19 Alert, and while our data continues to show high levels of widespread transmission of COVID-19 in our AASD community, we have made the difficult decision to not move forward with the scheduled middle school boys basketball sports season at this time.  We continue to monitor the situation and are considering alternative co-curricular activities that our students can engage in virtually.  Additional communication about these opportunities for our students, will be shared with our families in the near future.
